Andrew Firlik

Andrew has experience in venture capital, company building, technology development, and neurosurgery. He has served as founder, investor, director, and chairman of many successful companies.

Previously, he was a partner at Flare Capital Partners (formerly known as Foundation Medical Partners) and a principal at Canaan Partners. He was a founder and invented the core technology of Northstar Neuroscience, which went public and was subsequently acquired by St. Jude Medical. He also served as chairman of IntElect Medical, which was acquired by Boston Scientific. Andrew’s investments prior to JAZZ include BridgePoint Medical (acquired by Boston Scientific), Explorys (acquired by IBM), Functional Neuromodulation, and Visiogen (acquired by Abbott).

Prior to venture capital, Andrew was a board-certified neurosurgeon and served as clinical assistant professor of neurosurgery at Yale School of Medicine and New York University School of Medicine. During more than a decade in the healthcare profession, he published more than 50 medical articles and was co-editor of a book about cerebrovascular surgery. His scientific work has been presented at many international conferences and he holds numerous patents for his inventions. He has served on innovation advisory boards at Yale University, Cleveland Clinic, and Cornell University. Andrew earned his MD from Weill Cornell Medicine and his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh after studying neuroscience at Cornell (AB) and Oxford University.

Andrew serves on the boards of several technology, health, consumer, and enterprise companies in the JAZZ portfolio, including AllStripes, Blue Note Therapeutics, Cadence Neuroscience, Embodied, Magnus Medical, Mahana Therapeutics, Thrive Global, Woebot, Yumi, and Zus.

John F. Harris

John Harris is a seasoned investor, entrepreneur, executive, and corporate director with three decades of experience starting, developing, and directing early-stage life sciences and technology companies.

John’s board positions include Foresight Mental Health, Cadence Neuroscience, BlueNote Therapeutics, and HerMD. John is an empathetic, hands-on director who brings expertise in strategic analysis, leadership, creativity, concept development, product development, marketing, and finance.

Prior to JAZZ, John was the founder, president, and CEO of NeuroVista, a Seattle-based medical device company pioneering new technologies for the management and treatment of epilepsy. John was also a founder of Northstar Neuroscience, which went public in 2006 and was subsequently acquired by St. Jude Medical. Previous to that, John was a founder of Heartstream, a company that revolutionized the treatment of sudden cardiac arrest with uniquely designed external defibrillators that remain the global market leader and can be found in airports, sports arenas, public buildings, and many other locations. Heartstream went public in 1996 and was subsequently acquired by Hewlett-Packard.

John holds an engineering degree from Stanford, and an M.B.A. from Northwestern. He is passionate about fly-fishing and the outdoors, and lives with his wife in Medina, Washington.

Zack is an entrepreneur and futurist who has deep insight into how emerging technologies impact industry and human society. He is a proactive board member and investor across a broad array of technology and health-related markets and enjoys helping innovators achieve their visions.

Before JAZZ, Zack built several companies focused on connecting industries including a global conference ecosystem that enabled thousands of startups to tap into new sources of capital. Needing to share his vision for the next 50 years, he wrote the global best-selling book, The Neuro Revolution: How Brain Science Is Changing Our World.

Zack has degrees in evolutionary biology and environmental science as well as a masters degree in economic geography all from UCLA. He sits on the boards of multiple consumer, enterprise and health-related companies across the JAZZ portfolio including: AppliedVR, JobGet, Swing Therapeutics and Pinpoint Predictive.

John is a proven leader in consumer technology and digital media with a career focused on building, scaling and running high-growth companies of all sizes, from initial seed through to late-stage operation. He possesses a deep understanding of building brands, creating innovative experiences and leveraging new and emerging platforms.

Prior to JAZZ, John held senior operating roles in a wide array of technology companies in both the consumer and enterprise sectors. And in a distant past long forgotten, he earned a degree in engineering from Yale.

John sits on the boards of several companies in the JAZZ portfolio, including Outside, FormBio, and Sounding Board.

John is a seasoned investor, focusing on companies across frontier technology, enterprise software, robotics, healthcare, and artificial intelligence. He gravitates towards startups that are using science and technology to break down barriers to productivity growth and enable a better future for the largest number of people.

Prior to JAZZ, John was at Osage University Partners (OUP) and Lux Capital, where he focused on building and investing in companies at the intersection of science and deep technology. He brings extensive expertise in understanding nascent technologies and how they translate into product.

John’s prior investments and board roles include Algorithmia (acq. DataRobot), Body Labs (acq. AMZN), Corelight, Clarifai, Elementary ML, Embodied Robotics, Guardant Health (NYSE: GH), Kymeta, Menlo Security, SiFive, and Streetlight Data.

Justin is an experienced leader in the alternative investment space, where he has focused his time building, scaling, and leading differentiated investment platforms in both public and private markets. Throughout his career, he has emphasized developing genuine, long-term relationships across the investment, media, and sports ecosystems. At JAZZ, Justin leads Capital Formation & Investor Relations, in addition to developing creative ways to expand the JAZZ platform and network.

Prior to JAZZ, Justin spent nearly a decade at TPG, a $150B global alternative investment firm. While at TPG, Justin held various senior leadership roles, including Partner & Head of Fundraising for TPG Public Equity Partners. He also co-founded TPG NEXT, a platform focused on investing in diverse entrepreneurs and investors. Justin helped lead TPG NEXT’s strategic investments in VamosVentures, LandSpire Group, and Harlem Capital.

Prior to TPG, Justin spent several years at Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers, where he started his career in Investment Banking.

Justin graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in History and was a member of Columbia’s Division I-AA Football team for four years. In his final season at Columbia, Justin was an Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar Award Winner, and was also named to the inaugural National Football Foundation Honor Society.

Justin is an avid boxer and runner, but his true passion is spending his free time with his wife and two children.

As a Venture Partner at JAZZ and an executive coach, Narie marries her operating expertise with a deep knowledge of human nature to support portfolio companies with interpersonal and hospitality-oriented initiatives.

Previously, Narie co-founded M.M.LaFleur, a direct-to-consumer fashion brand for professional women, and spent five years as COO, helping to grow the company to $75 million in revenue, over 200 employees, and Series B funding. Narie led the build-out of M.M.LaFleur’s e-commerce, customer experience, fulfillment operations, software engineering, product management, people operations, and company culture. In 2016, she was selected as one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in Retail & E-Commerce, and in 2017, M.M.LaFleur was #43 on Inc.’s list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in America.

Narie has advised and mentored hundreds of entrepreneurs, including as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at MIT and a guest lecturer at Cornell University, Columbia Business School, the Wharton School, NYU Stern, Techstars, CodeBase Edinburgh, University of Edinburgh, and the World Food Programme Innovation Accelerator.

Outside of JAZZ, Narie also facilitates intensive workshops that optimize human potential, and creates interactive hospitality experiences. She loves exploring humanity via food, writing, design, comedy, and storytelling.

Narie began her career as a management consultant at Bain & Company and has a B.S. in Systems Engineering from Cornell University.

Sharon Knight

Sharon is a wellness and healthy aging champion with deep experience in finance, planning and operations that she deploys as a growth and operations strategist for healthcare and health tech startups.

After leading finance and development functions and multi-national teams at KFC, Gap, and Electronic Arts, she joined One Medical Group, which went public in 2020 and is now owned by Amazon, as President. After overseeing the clinic’s growth beyond San Francisco to NYC, Washington, Boston and Chicago, Sharon served as COO of The Plant Café Organic, championing food as medicine, and President and COO of Hawthorne Effect, which is transforming how clinical trials are conducted. Most recently, she led Stop the Spread, a COVID-19 response nonprofit formed to catalyze the private sector’s response to the pandemic with support from Impact Assets and Google.org.

Sharon holds an MBA in Finance from Northwestern University and a BA in Economics from Smith College.

Chit-Kwan Lin

Chit-Kwan (CK) brings to JAZZ deeply technical expertise, drawn from over twenty years in academic and industry settings, spanning machine learning, computer architecture, distributed computing, cyber-physical systems, wireless networking, software engineering, and healthcare tech. Trained as a computer scientist, with dozens of peer-reviewed publications and patents, he has a passion for research commercialization and most enjoys building teams that turn lab innovations into useful products.

Currently, CK is the founder and CEO of Revelata, Inc., a natural language processing startup serving the finance industry. Previously, CK was at Intel Corporation, where he was responsible for the first API and compiler for Loihi, Intel’s (non-von Neumann) neuromorphic research chip, and where he subsequently led the Smart Computing Architecture Team in its effort to improve CPU performance by directly incorporating machine learning into Intel microarchitecture. Earlier in his career, CK worked on advanced protocols for drone and satellite networks at Harvard and MIT Lincoln Lab, and was a software engineer for many years at various startups.

CK holds an A.B. in Biochemical Sciences, and S.M., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science, all from Harvard University.

Jia Li

Jia is interested in how AI will make positive impact on everyday life. She is an entrepreneur who is excited about bringing Generative AI to real-world applications. Most recently she is the Co-Founder, Chief AI Officer and President of LiveX AI, which aims to transform the way we live towards a smart, sustainable, and an enjoyable home environment.

Previously, she was the Founding Global Head of R&D at Google Cloud AI. At Google, she oversaw the development of the full stack of AI products on Google Cloud to power solutions for diverse industries. Before joining Google, Jia was the Head of Research at Snap, leading the AI/AR innovation effort.

With the passion to make more impact to our everyday life, she has also had a distinguished career building and advising companies with award-winning platforms to solve today’s greatest challenges across many industries and disciplines. She has served as Mentor and Professor-in-Residence at StartX, advising founders/companies from Stanford alumni. She is the Co-Founder and Chairperson of HealthUnity Corporation, a volunteer-based nonprofit organization. She served at Accenture as a part-time Chief AI Fellow for the Generative AI strategy. She also serves as an advisor to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). She is a board member of the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose.  She was elected as IEEE Fellow for Leadership in Large Scale AI. She co-taught the inaugural course of Generative AI and Medicine at Stanford University, where she has served multiple roles, including Advisory Board Committee to Nourish, Chief AI Fellow, Fellow of RWE for Sleep Health, and has also served as Adjunct Professor at the Stanford School of Medicine.

She received her Ph.D. degree from the Computer Science Department at Stanford University.

Ido has long and successful experience in developing and investing in consumer and digital brands. He has extensive networks in the start-up communities of Silicon Valley and Australasia.

Ido is the co-founder at Yoobi, a school supplies company that engages kids through bright colours, cool designs and, most importantly, cause: Yoobi has provided free school supplies to over 5.5 million kids. He is also a co-founder of Beach House Group – a global consumer product house.

Ido is a non-executive director of Vestergaard, Southern Cross Austereo, Yumi and The Lux Group. Previously Ido was non-executive director of Spark New Zealand Limited (Formerly Telecom NZ) from 2012-2020.

He sits on other corporate and advisory boards, including as an emeritus member of the United Nations Foundation Global Entrepreneur Council.

Adam Gazzaley

Adam currently serves as a Venture Partner at JAZZ where he advises the firm and its portfolio companies on scientific, research and technological operations. Adam is lab director and professor of neurology, physiology and psychiatry at University of California, San Francisco.

He received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in Neuroscience through the NIH-sponsored Medical Scientist Training Program at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He went on to complete an internship in internal medicine and residency in neurology at the University of Pennsylvania. Following residency, Dr. Gazzaley was awarded a research fellowship at University of California, Berkeley where he worked with Dr. Mark D’Esposito and Dr. Robert Knight. The research involved studying memory and attention in humans and the changes that occur with normal aging using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG). During this time, he also completed a clinical fellowship in cognitive neurology at the Memory and Aging Center, under the direction of Dr. Bruce Miller, and became board-certified in neurology.

Adam is the founding director of the Neuroscience Imaging Center at the University of California, San Francisco; an Associate Professor in Neurology, Physiology and Psychiatry; and Principal Investigator of a cognitive neuroscience laboratory. His laboratory studies neural mechanisms of perception, attention and memory, with an emphasis on the impact of distraction and multitasking on these abilities. His unique research approach utilizes a powerful combination of human neurophysiological tools, including fMRI, EEG and transcranial stimulation (TES). Through this research, Adam has been able to expand our understanding of alterations in the aging brain that lead to cognitive decline. His most recent studies explore how we may enhance our cognitive abilities via engagement with custom-designed video games, neurofeedback and TES.

Adam has authored over 100 scientific articles, delivered almost 400 presentations globally, including TED and TEDMED, and his research and perspectives have been consistently profiled in national and international media outlets that include The New York Times, New Yorker, Wired, NBC Nightly News, and others. Recently Adam wrote and hosted the nationally televised, PBS-sponsored special “The Distracted Mind with Dr. Adam Gazzaley.”

Allison Williams is experienced in early-stage venture capital investing with an emphasis on B2B SaaS opportunities. As a former founder and subsequent leader at a venture accelerator, Allison is particularly energized by connecting with founders to help accelerate growth and unlock potential.

Previously, Allison was Principal at Newark Venture Partners, leading and taking board positions at Seed and Series A investments. Investments include Podsights (acquired by Spotify), Walnut Financial, FleetOps and Clockwork Logistics. Prior to this, Allison led the firm’s Pre-Seed investment arm which included the build-out of an in-house support team focused around sales and go-to-market execution. Investments include Botmock (acquired by Walmart), Optimal Dynamics, Kiira Health, Sonoro Media, ClassTag, TalentWall and Team Mobot.

Prior to investing, Allison was the CEO and founder of Yarly, a photo cloud-storage platform sold to market-leader YesVideo as well as COO and Head of Strategy for venture-backed startups in the live video streaming and marketing software industries.

Allison graduated with her B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School) and received her M.B.A. from Columbia University. Allison proudly serves on the NJ board of the national nonprofit All Stars Project which promotes student career readiness with skills developed via the performing arts.

Sydney’s background is in helping growing businesses raise capital, and prior to JAZZ she worked in investment banking at Morgan Stanley in both New York and London. As part of the Equity Capital Markets division, she focused her time on technology and business services, and helped a range of companies IPO and raise equity capital in the public markets.

Sydney holds a degree in Economics from Yale, where she was a sprinter and Captain of the Women’s Varsity Track and Field team.

She is passionate about supporting inclusion among early stage founders and investors and is actively involved with several groups including All Raise.

Matt is an experienced entrepreneur with a passion for health and human performance.

Prior to joining JAZZ, Matt was the Founder and CEO of Momentous, a performance nutrition company that he started at 18 and dropped out of Harvard to build. He led the company through several rounds of venture funding to become a trusted consumer brand and the leading supplier of supplements and nutrition products for professional and collegiate sports teams in the US. Momentous was acquired by Amp Human in 2021, after which Matt shifted to the role of Chief Product Officer to help manage the company’s transition.

Outside of JAZZ, Matt is an avid endurance athlete, an active angel investor and a minority owner in Leeds United Football Club.

Sujude Dalieh

Senior Associate

Sujude Dalieh is an investor at JAZZ where she invests at the intersection of cultural trends and deep science.

Prior to JAZZ, Sujude supported investments across fronteir tech, workforce solutions, and health innovations at Lux Capital and K50 Ventures. Sujude started her career off in the computational sciences and is a Berkeley-trained scientist. She was a member of the Somorjai Group, a surface chemistry research lab at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and she subsequently led the integration of the Jupyter Project at the Berkeley Institute of Data Science across over 50 clients. She pivoted to digital product strategy, where she built an array of community-forward health initiatives at Hopelab and YTH.

Sujude holds an MEng in Product Design Engineering from Stanford University and a BS in Chemistry from UC Berkeley and currently guest lectures at both institutions. Sujude currently sits on the boards of Mercaso and JobGet and is active in the MENA-affiliated startup world as a member of TechWadi.

Stone Connell

Stone Connell is the VP of Finance for JAZZ Venture Partners where he leads the finance, accounting, and operational functions of the firm. Prior to joining JAZZ, Stone served as the Director of Finance for Biomatics Capital, a life sciences venture capital firm, where he managed the financial, reporting, and administrative activities.

Previously, Stone was an engagement manager with the fund administrator, Standish Management, serving clients across the private equity industry. He began his career with PwC as an auditor within the asset management line of service. At PwC he provided audit and consulting services to clients ranging from large hedge funds to local private equity managers in the Seattle market.

Stone is a Certified Public Accountant and earned his B.A. in Business Administration (Accounting emphasis) as well as his Masters in Accountancy from the University of Washington – Seattle.

Outside of work, you’ll find Stone outdoors with his family hiking, skiing, running or exploring outdoors. He is also an avid sports fan and always enjoys going to a local game.

Diana Stoner

Director of Finance & Operations

Diana Stoner serves as Director of Finance and Operations for JAZZ Venture Partners, where she supports the finance, accounting, and operational functions of the firm.

Prior to joining JAZZ, Diana spent her career in Accounting at alternative investment firm HBK Capital Management in Dallas, Texas. Diana is a Certified Public Accountant and earned her B.S. in Accounting and M.S. in Management from Texas A&M University.

Linda Michael

Linda Michael serves as a Controller for JAZZ Venture Partners where she supports the finance, accounting, and operational functions for JAZZ with decades of experience in the space.

Previously, Linda spent time in both public accounting, at Deloitte in Seattle, and in corporate financial reporting at Immunex Corporation. Following these roles, she assumed fund administration roles for both Aduro Advisors and XFO Partners. Linda has also been actively involved in various philanthropic and finance positions in her community.

Linda graduated cum laude from the University of Washington Foster School of Business in June 1990, with a major in Business Administration and Concentration in Accounting.

Linda enjoys traveling with her family and cheering on Husky football.

Amanda Way

Amanda is an experienced healthcare and biotech investor, bringing her passions for venture capital, company information, health+bio, patient engagement, and clinical informatics to the JAZZ team.

Prior to JAZZ, Amanda was an investor at Emerson Collective, a social impact organization/family office founded by Laurene Powell Jobs that leverages venture capital, policy, and philanthropy to do the most good for the most people. Amanda joined to help form the Health Team, where she spent five years making early stage investments and building companies across biotech and healthcare with a focus on oncology. Notable investments that she led include Medable, Getlabs, Paradromics, Theonys, Volastra Therapeutics, and Teal Health.

Before joining the world of investing, Amanda studied neuroscience at Brown University as a part of its Program in Liberal Medical Education where she conducted research in the Assad Lab on the optogenetic investigation of neural rhythms and learning, worked as an EMT, and co-founded a cystic fibrosis focused company that reduces bacterial growth on nebulizers. Amanda loved the patient impact one can have at the intersection of business and medicine through company formation, which pushed her to jump into venture capital and this drives a lot of her work today.

Outside of work, Amanda co-leads the healthcare vertical of the Emerging Venture Capital Association, figure skates with the San Francisco Tremors Synchronized Skating Team, and is working towards her private pilot’s license.

Amanda earned a M.S in Clinical Informatics Management from Stanford School of Medicine and a B.S. in Neuroscience from Brown University.

Zack is an entrepreneur and futurist who has deep insight into how emerging technologies impact industry and human society. He is a proactive board member and investor across a broad array of technology and health-related markets and enjoys helping innovators achieve their visions.

Before JAZZ, Zack built several companies focused on connecting industries including a global conference ecosystem that enabled thousands of startups to tap into new sources of capital. Needing to share his vision for the next 50 years, he wrote the global best-selling book, The Neuro Revolution: How Brain Science Is Changing Our World.

Zack has degrees in evolutionary biology and environmental science as well as a masters degree in economic geography all from UCLA. He sits on the boards of multiple consumer, enterprise and health-related companies across the JAZZ portfolio including: AppliedVR, JobGet, Swing Therapeutics and Pinpoint Predictive.

John Spinale

John is a proven leader in consumer technology and digital media with a career focused on building, scaling and running high-growth companies of all sizes, from initial seed through to late-stage operation. He possesses a deep understanding of building brands, creating innovative experiences and leveraging new and emerging platforms.

Prior to JAZZ, John held senior operating roles in a wide array of technology companies in both the consumer and enterprise sectors. And in a distant past long forgotten, he earned a degree in engineering from Yale.

John Lee

Partner

John is a seasoned investor, focusing on companies across frontier technology, enterprise software, robotics, healthcare, and artificial intelligence. He gravitates towards startups that are using science and technology to break down barriers to productivity growth and enable a better future for the largest number of people.

Prior to JAZZ, John was at Osage University Partners (OUP) and Lux Capital, where he focused on building and investing in companies at the intersection of science and deep technology. He brings extensive expertise in understanding nascent technologies and how they translate into product.

John’s prior investments and board roles include Algorithmia (acq. DataRobot), Body Labs (acq. AMZN), Corelight, Clarifai, Elementary ML, Embodied Robotics, Guardant Health (NYSE: GH), Kymeta, Menlo Security, SiFive, and Streetlight Data.

Justin Nuñez

Partner

Justin is an experienced leader in the alternative investment space, where he has focused his time building, scaling, and leading differentiated investment platforms in both public and private markets. Throughout his career, he has emphasized developing genuine, long-term relationships across the investment, media, and sports ecosystems. At JAZZ, Justin leads Capital Formation & Investor Relations, in addition to developing creative ways to expand the JAZZ platform and network.

Prior to JAZZ, Justin spent nearly a decade at TPG, a $150B global alternative investment firm. While at TPG, Justin held various senior leadership roles, including Partner & Head of Fundraising for TPG Public Equity Partners. He also co-founded TPG NEXT, a platform focused on investing in diverse entrepreneurs and investors. Justin helped lead TPG NEXT’s strategic investments in VamosVentures, LandSpire Group, and Harlem Capital.

Prior to TPG, Justin spent several years at Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers, where he started his career in Investment Banking.

Justin graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in History and was a member of Columbia’s Division I-AA Football team for four years. In his final season at Columbia, Justin was an Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar Award Winner, and was also named to the inaugural National Football Foundation Honor Society.

Justin is an avid boxer and runner, but his true passion is spending his free time with his wife and two children.

Narie Foster

As a Venture Partner at JAZZ and an executive coach, Narie marries her operating expertise with a deep knowledge of human nature to support portfolio companies with interpersonal and hospitality-oriented initiatives.

Previously, Narie co-founded M.M.LaFleur, a direct-to-consumer fashion brand for professional women, and spent five years as COO, helping to grow the company to $75 million in revenue, over 200 employees, and Series B funding. Narie led the build-out of M.M.LaFleur’s e-commerce, customer experience, fulfillment operations, software engineering, product management, people operations, and company culture. In 2016, she was selected as one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in Retail & E-Commerce, and in 2017, M.M.LaFleur was #43 on Inc.’s list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in America.

Narie has advised and mentored hundreds of entrepreneurs, including as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at MIT and a guest lecturer at Cornell University, Columbia Business School, the Wharton School, NYU Stern, Techstars, CodeBase Edinburgh, University of Edinburgh, and the World Food Programme Innovation Accelerator.

Outside of JAZZ, Narie also facilitates intensive workshops that optimize human potential, and creates interactive hospitality experiences. She loves exploring humanity via food, writing, design, comedy, and storytelling.

Narie began her career as a management consultant at Bain & Company and has a B.S. in Systems Engineering from Cornell University.

Sharon Knight

Sharon is a wellness and healthy aging champion with deep experience in finance, planning and operations that she deploys as a growth and operations strategist for healthcare and health tech startups.

After leading finance and development functions and multi-national teams at KFC, Gap, and Electronic Arts, she joined One Medical Group, which went public in 2020 and is now owned by Amazon, as President. After overseeing the clinic’s growth beyond San Francisco to NYC, Washington, Boston and Chicago, Sharon served as COO of The Plant Café Organic, championing food as medicine, and President and COO of Hawthorne Effect, which is transforming how clinical trials are conducted. Most recently, she led Stop the Spread, a COVID-19 response nonprofit formed to catalyze the private sector’s response to the pandemic with support from Impact Assets and Google.org.

Sharon holds an MBA in Finance from Northwestern University and a BA in Economics from Smith College.

Chit-Kwan Lin

Venture Partner

Chit-Kwan (CK) brings to JAZZ deeply technical expertise, drawn from over twenty years in academic and industry settings, spanning machine learning, computer architecture, distributed computing, cyber-physical systems, wireless networking, software engineering, and healthcare tech. Trained as a computer scientist, with dozens of peer-reviewed publications and patents, he has a passion for research commercialization and most enjoys building teams that turn lab innovations into useful products.

Currently, CK is the founder and CEO of Revelata, Inc., a natural language processing startup serving the finance industry. Previously, CK was at Intel Corporation, where he was responsible for the first API and compiler for Loihi, Intel’s (non-von Neumann) neuromorphic research chip, and where he subsequently led the Smart Computing Architecture Team in its effort to improve CPU performance by directly incorporating machine learning into Intel microarchitecture. Earlier in his career, CK worked on advanced protocols for drone and satellite networks at Harvard and MIT Lincoln Lab, and was a software engineer for many years at various startups.

CK holds an A.B. in Biochemical Sciences, and S.M., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science, all from Harvard University.

Jia Li

Jia is interested in how AI will make positive impact on everyday life. She is an entrepreneur who is excited about bringing Generative AI to real-world applications. Most recently she is the Co-Founder, Chief AI Officer and President of LiveX AI, which aims to transform the way we live towards a smart, sustainable, and an enjoyable home environment.

Previously, she was the Founding Global Head of R&D at Google Cloud AI. At Google, she oversaw the development of the full stack of AI products on Google Cloud to power solutions for diverse industries. Before joining Google, Jia was the Head of Research at Snap, leading the AI/AR innovation effort.

With the passion to make more impact to our everyday life, she has also had a distinguished career building and advising companies with award-winning platforms to solve today’s greatest challenges across many industries and disciplines. She has served as Mentor and Professor-in-Residence at StartX, advising founders/companies from Stanford alumni. She is the Co-Founder and Chairperson of HealthUnity Corporation, a volunteer-based nonprofit organization. She served at Accenture as a part-time Chief AI Fellow for the Generative AI strategy. She also serves as an advisor to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). She is a board member of the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose.  She was elected as IEEE Fellow for Leadership in Large Scale AI. She co-taught the inaugural course of Generative AI and Medicine at Stanford University, where she has served multiple roles, including Advisory Board Committee to Nourish, Chief AI Fellow, Fellow of RWE for Sleep Health, and has also served as Adjunct Professor at the Stanford School of Medicine.

She received her Ph.D. degree from the Computer Science Department at Stanford University.

Ido Leffler

Ido has long and successful experience in developing and investing in consumer and digital brands. He has extensive networks in the start-up communities of Silicon Valley and Australasia.

Ido is the co-founder at Yoobi, a school supplies company that engages kids through bright colours, cool designs and, most importantly, cause: Yoobi has provided free school supplies to over 5.5 million kids. He is also a co-founder of Beach House Group – a global consumer product house.

Ido is a non-executive director of Vestergaard, Southern Cross Austereo, Yumi and The Lux Group. Previously Ido was non-executive director of Spark New Zealand Limited (Formerly Telecom NZ) from 2012-2020.

He sits on other corporate and advisory boards, including as an emeritus member of the United Nations Foundation Global Entrepreneur Council.

Adam Gazzaley

Venture Partner

Adam currently serves as a Venture Partner at JAZZ where he advises the firm and its portfolio companies on scientific, research and technological operations. Adam is lab director and professor of neurology, physiology and psychiatry at University of California, San Francisco.

He received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in Neuroscience through the NIH-sponsored Medical Scientist Training Program at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He went on to complete an internship in internal medicine and residency in neurology at the University of Pennsylvania. Following residency, Dr. Gazzaley was awarded a research fellowship at University of California, Berkeley where he worked with Dr. Mark D’Esposito and Dr. Robert Knight. The research involved studying memory and attention in humans and the changes that occur with normal aging using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG). During this time, he also completed a clinical fellowship in cognitive neurology at the Memory and Aging Center, under the direction of Dr. Bruce Miller, and became board-certified in neurology.

Adam is the founding director of the Neuroscience Imaging Center at the University of California, San Francisco; an Associate Professor in Neurology, Physiology and Psychiatry; and Principal Investigator of a cognitive neuroscience laboratory. His laboratory studies neural mechanisms of perception, attention and memory, with an emphasis on the impact of distraction and multitasking on these abilities. His unique research approach utilizes a powerful combination of human neurophysiological tools, including fMRI, EEG and transcranial stimulation (TES). Through this research, Adam has been able to expand our understanding of alterations in the aging brain that lead to cognitive decline. His most recent studies explore how we may enhance our cognitive abilities via engagement with custom-designed video games, neurofeedback and TES.

Adam has authored over 100 scientific articles, delivered almost 400 presentations globally, including TED and TEDMED, and his research and perspectives have been consistently profiled in national and international media outlets that include The New York Times, New Yorker, Wired, NBC Nightly News, and others. Recently Adam wrote and hosted the nationally televised, PBS-sponsored special “The Distracted Mind with Dr. Adam Gazzaley.”

Allison Williams

Principal

Allison Williams is experienced in early-stage venture capital investing with an emphasis on B2B SaaS opportunities. As a former founder and subsequent leader at a venture accelerator, Allison is particularly energized by connecting with founders to help accelerate growth and unlock potential.

Previously, Allison was Principal at Newark Venture Partners, leading and taking board positions at Seed and Series A investments. Investments include Podsights (acquired by Spotify), Walnut Financial, FleetOps and Clockwork Logistics. Prior to this, Allison led the firm’s Pre-Seed investment arm which included the build-out of an in-house support team focused around sales and go-to-market execution. Investments include Botmock (acquired by Walmart), Optimal Dynamics, Kiira Health, Sonoro Media, ClassTag, TalentWall and Team Mobot.

Prior to investing, Allison was the CEO and founder of Yarly, a photo cloud-storage platform sold to market-leader YesVideo as well as COO and Head of Strategy for venture-backed startups in the live video streaming and marketing software industries.

Allison graduated with her B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School) and received her M.B.A. from Columbia University. Allison proudly serves on the NJ board of the national nonprofit All Stars Project which promotes student career readiness with skills developed via the performing arts.

Sydney Cureton

Sydney’s background is in helping growing businesses raise capital, and prior to JAZZ she worked in investment banking at Morgan Stanley in both New York and London. As part of the Equity Capital Markets division, she focused her time on technology and business services, and helped a range of companies IPO and raise equity capital in the public markets.

Sydney holds a degree in Economics from Yale, where she was a sprinter and Captain of the Women’s Varsity Track and Field team.

She is passionate about supporting inclusion among early stage founders and investors and is actively involved with several groups including All Raise.

Matt Wan

Senior Associate

Matt is an experienced entrepreneur with a passion for health and human performance.

Prior to joining JAZZ, Matt was the Founder and CEO of Momentous, a performance nutrition company that he started at 18 and dropped out of Harvard to build. He led the company through several rounds of venture funding to become a trusted consumer brand and the leading supplier of supplements and nutrition products for professional and collegiate sports teams in the US. Momentous was acquired by Amp Human in 2021, after which Matt shifted to the role of Chief Product Officer to help manage the company’s transition.

Outside of JAZZ, Matt is an avid endurance athlete, an active angel investor and a minority owner in Leeds United Football Club.

Sujude Dalieh

Senior Associate

Sujude Dalieh is an investor at JAZZ where she invests at the intersection of cultural trends and deep science.

Prior to JAZZ, Sujude supported investments across fronteir tech, workforce solutions, and health innovations at Lux Capital and K50 Ventures. Sujude started her career off in the computational sciences and is a Berkeley-trained scientist. She was a member of the Somorjai Group, a surface chemistry research lab at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and she subsequently led the integration of the Jupyter Project at the Berkeley Institute of Data Science across over 50 clients. She pivoted to digital product strategy, where she built an array of community-forward health initiatives at Hopelab and YTH.

Sujude holds an MEng in Product Design Engineering from Stanford University and a BS in Chemistry from UC Berkeley and currently guest lectures at both institutions. Sujude currently sits on the boards of Mercaso and JobGet and is active in the MENA-affiliated startup world as a member of TechWadi.

Stone Connell

Vice President of Finance

Stone Connell is the VP of Finance for JAZZ Venture Partners where he leads the finance, accounting, and operational functions of the firm. Prior to joining JAZZ, Stone served as the Director of Finance for Biomatics Capital, a life sciences venture capital firm, where he managed the financial, reporting, and administrative activities.

Previously, Stone was an engagement manager with the fund administrator, Standish Management, serving clients across the private equity industry. He began his career with PwC as an auditor within the asset management line of service. At PwC he provided audit and consulting services to clients ranging from large hedge funds to local private equity managers in the Seattle market.

Stone is a Certified Public Accountant and earned his B.A. in Business Administration (Accounting emphasis) as well as his Masters in Accountancy from the University of Washington – Seattle.

Outside of work, you’ll find Stone outdoors with his family hiking, skiing, running or exploring outdoors. He is also an avid sports fan and always enjoys going to a local game.

Diana Stoner

Director of Finance & Operations

Diana Stoner serves as Director of Finance and Operations for JAZZ Venture Partners, where she supports the finance, accounting, and operational functions of the firm.

Prior to joining JAZZ, Diana spent her career in Accounting at alternative investment firm HBK Capital Management in Dallas, Texas. Diana is a Certified Public Accountant and earned her B.S. in Accounting and M.S. in Management from Texas A&M University.

Linda Michael

Controller

Linda Michael serves as a Controller for JAZZ Venture Partners where she supports the finance, accounting, and operational functions for JAZZ with decades of experience in the space.

Previously, Linda spent time in both public accounting, at Deloitte in Seattle, and in corporate financial reporting at Immunex Corporation. Following these roles, she assumed fund administration roles for both Aduro Advisors and XFO Partners. Linda has also been actively involved in various philanthropic and finance positions in her community.

Linda graduated cum laude from the University of Washington Foster School of Business in June 1990, with a major in Business Administration and Concentration in Accounting.

Linda enjoys traveling with her family and cheering on Husky football.

Amanda Way

Advisor

Amanda is an experienced healthcare and biotech investor, bringing her passions for venture capital, company information, health+bio, patient engagement, and clinical informatics to the JAZZ team.

Prior to JAZZ, Amanda was an investor at Emerson Collective, a social impact organization/family office founded by Laurene Powell Jobs that leverages venture capital, policy, and philanthropy to do the most good for the most people. Amanda joined to help form the Health Team, where she spent five years making early stage investments and building companies across biotech and healthcare with a focus on oncology. Notable investments that she led include Medable, Getlabs, Paradromics, Theonys, Volastra Therapeutics, and Teal Health.

Before joining the world of investing, Amanda studied neuroscience at Brown University as a part of its Program in Liberal Medical Education where she conducted research in the Assad Lab on the optogenetic investigation of neural rhythms and learning, worked as an EMT, and co-founded a cystic fibrosis focused company that reduces bacterial growth on nebulizers. Amanda loved the patient impact one can have at the intersection of business and medicine through company formation, which pushed her to jump into venture capital and this drives a lot of her work today.

Outside of work, Amanda co-leads the healthcare vertical of the Emerging Venture Capital Association, figure skates with the San Francisco Tremors Synchronized Skating Team, and is working towards her private pilot’s license.
